What is peer-to-peer connections?

Peer-to-peer connections is a patient-facilitated support group to share the day-to-day experiences of living with home nutrition support.

Who is this group for?

Peer-to-peer connections is for people living with home nutrition support, both enteral (feeding tube) and parenteral (IV nutrition), as well as the caregivers who support them. All stages of the nutrition support journey are welcome, whether this is all new to you or you’ve been doing this for years.

What is our purpose?

Peer-to-peer connections was created to be a safe space for those of us with lived experience on or caring for someone on nutrition support to connect with each other. This group is an opportunity to talk, ask questions, share practical ideas, learn from one another, hear different perspectives, and build connections and community in an environment that is free from judgement and free from healthcare providers. This is not a space for medical advice or a substitute for medical advice. Our core motivation is our belief in the power of hearing someone else say, “hey, me too”.

How can you participate? First of all, just show up! Meetings are informal and conversational. There is no need to prepare anything, but you’re welcome to come with questions or concerns you’d like to discuss. Share only what you’re comfortable sharing, when you’re comfortable sharing it. It’s okay to just come to listen. You do not need to be struggling or in crisis to attend – it’s never a bad time to connect with others who can relate to your day-to-day experiences.

When are peer-to-peer meetings? We’re still a new group, which means we’re still working on figuring out a schedule that works best for our community and so dates and times are jumping around as we trial different options.
